The CCC Ditch is owned by the Colorado Co-operative Company and diverts a total of 145 cfs from the
San Miguel River under several senior priority water rights into the Highline Canal. The diversion
structure is located on the San Miguel River in Montrose County downstream from the confluence with
Horsefly Creek, situated roughly between Norwood and Naturita. This project will alleviate the diversion
structure being an impediment to fish migration and a significant safety hazard to recreational boaters,
while ensuring continued diversions of the Company's full decreed amounts from the San Miguel River.
The proposed modification to the structure is designed to (I) fortify the existing structure against erosion
and potentially reduce the transport of sediment into the Highline Canal, (2) develop a stable pooJ/drop
rapid in the channel that will facilitate upstream fish migration and create a reasonably safe boating
experience, (3) return the river channel to its natural morphological dimensions, (4) improve habitat with .
native willow plantings; and (5) stabilize the north bank of the river.
