The Bill marks the beginning of project feasibility studies, environmental impact studies, and <br />the initiation of various permitting processes. Water demands in and around the S1. George area <br />(Washington County) expected to be 174,000 AF annually by 2039 and perhaps more, which is an <br />increase of approximately 45,000 AF over current supplies. Studies are expected to run through 20 10 and <br />the pipeline completed and delivering water by 2020. The pipeline would extend approximately 120 <br />miles and deliver approximately 100,000 AF annually from Lake Powell to the S1. George area. It is <br />estimated the pipeline would cost $370 million with an option of extending it to the Cedar City for an <br />additional $120 million. <br /> <br />Bosley Wash Detention Design Update: The CWCB continues to work with Olsson Associates and the <br />Grand Junction Drainage District to design a detention pond north of 1-70 in Mesa County to alleviate <br />ongoing flooding problems in the Bosley Wash watershed, between Palisade and Grand Junction. <br /> <br />This watershed experienced extreme flooding in separate events in 1999, leading to the creation of the <br />"Bosley Wash Drainage Master Plan," prepared by HDR Engineering and sponsored by the CWCB. In <br />addition to a small demonstration project already implemented, the primary recommendation from the <br />study included the construction of a large detention facility located north of the Interstate in order to <br />attenuate flows in the lower watershed. <br /> <br />Design is anticipated to be completed by January 2007, at which point local officials will determine how <br />to proceed with funding and construction. This project took on additional significance this past summer <br />when a Utah motorist died while driving through the flooded Interstate on August I, 2006. The design of <br /> <br />23 <br />
