7 Colorado River Basin States Water Augmentation Study

The 7-Colorado River Basin States, as part of the 7-state proposal concerning Coordinated
Operations of Colorado River Reservoirs and the development of Lower Basin Shortage Criteria,
have agreed to undertake a study of possible ways to augment the water supply of the Colorado
River as a whole. The Southern Nevada Water Authority has agreed to be the lead for this study
effort. The consulting team of, "Colorado River Water Consultants" has been selected to
perform the study. Colorado River Water Consultants is ajoint venture between CH2MHill and
Black and Veatch. Dr. Les Lampe and Ted Way are the project leads. As part of this study
effort, the consulting team has requested that each of the seven basin states provide guidance in
the following areas:
1. Augmentation options that each State wants to have considered as part of the study.
2. Persons or agencies within each State that should be contacted concerning potential
augmentation options.
3. Prior studies, reports, or other information about potential augmentation options that
should be considered during the study.

We are requesting youtinput on what should or should not be considered in Colorado's
response to this request. We will be coordinating Colorado's response to this request and desire
your input by August 7, 2006. A proposed outline of our response, which is offered solely for
discussion purpose, is attached.
