.,' ",............ \
~ l.''--

The transmission line crosses under the Purgatoire River at several locations along the river
valley as it extends from the filtration plant to Trinidad. As this is a treated water transmission
line, most properties fronting the pipeline are serviced with water. The City has a rechlorination
facility to assure water quality at Madrid.

STORAGE

The transmission line reaches to a point below Trinidad Lake at Jansen Tank, the City's first and
primary water storage tank which has a capacity of 5,000,000 gallons.

From the primary storage tank the City has smaller transmission lines with pumping stations
which extend to the City's secondary storage tanks located on Simpson's Rest, Reservoir Hill,
and east of Allendale. Each of those tanks has a 1,500,000 gallon capacity of storage. Total
storage capacity is 9.5 million gallons.

A telemetry system is used to monitor water levels within each tank so that treated water can be
transmitted from the filtration plant to the Jansen primary tank and subsequently to each storage
tank surrounding the City, thus keeping the volume of available water at maximum level.

DISTRIBUTION

From the water storage tanks surrounding the City there is a distribution system with necessary
interconnections for delivery of water throughout the City.

In addition to delivering water to each household and business in Trinidad, water is also provided
to many areas outside the City's corporate limits extending as far east as the Hoehne area.

The majority of the out-of-City residents and businesses are provided water by means of water
association agreements with the City.

In addition to the various individual water customers outside the City and the water associations
which purchase water in bulk at points of master metering (for distribution though their own
delivery systems), Trinidad's water system also supplies water to the Town of Cokedale and the
Town of Starkville.

By contractual agreement, the Trinidad water system also supplies water to the Pinon Canyon
Army Maneuver Site (located twenty-nine miles east of Trinidad) by means of an Army-owned
and dedicated water line.

-4-
