Standpipes and fire lines <br /> <br />Regular customers of the City Water Department, using water for domestic or industrial <br />purposes, wishing to install fire lines to serve fire sprinkler systems in commercial, industrial, or <br />public buildings to be used exclusively for the fighting of fires shall be permitted, upon approval <br />of plans by the City Engineer, the Water Superintendent and the Fire Chief, to connect to the <br />City mains at their own expense. Use of water from standpipes and fire lines shall be for the <br />purpose of fighting fires only <br /> <br />Section 12-65. Metered service <br /> <br />All water service shall be metered. <br /> <br />DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM REPAIR <br /> <br />The City has engaged the services of Utility Technical Services, Inc., P.O. Box 3613, <br />Englewood, Colorado 80155, (303) 773-2808. represented by David Anderson to provide ultra <br />sound leak detection. Results to date have been successful. Additional future work will be <br />requested of the company. <br /> <br />City forces are continuously engaged in the work of distribution system repair. The City Water <br />Department has the on-going responsibility of repairing and/or replacing the distribution system <br />and transmission pipelines which range from 2" diameter to 36" diameter. In addition. the Water <br />Department staff is actively pursuing testing for State Water Distribution Technician <br />certification. <br /> <br />REVIEW OF OTHER MUNICIPALITIES <br /> <br />The City currently has on file the water conservation plans and/or water curtailment policies for <br />these Colorado cities: <br /> <br />Aurora <br />Colorado Springs <br />Denver <br />Durango <br />Fort Collins <br />Grand Junction <br />Greeley <br />Pueblo <br /> <br />It is anticipated that in the event of Trinidad seeing the necessity of implementing a water <br />curtailment plan, portions of some or all of these documents would be utilized. <br /> <br />-9- <br />
