..

.

e

PROJECT FINDINGS

Annual swmner usage in 1993 was 55,881,200 gallons. This was prior to any raw
water ilTigation, In 1994 the sunnner usage was 56,946,665 gallons, The High School
Athletic Field and 3 customers were on line in late August. .
In 1995 sununer usage was down to 41,455,209 gallons, The Town Park was not
hooked up until mid August but we still showed a 15,000,000 gallon savings at the
Treabnent Plant, which equates to a 27% overall savings, Of the 12 residential customers
surveyed, the average savings was 85% with a high of99% and a low of 66%. With the
Town Park now hooked up we feel savings could have been as high as 45%.
Most customers felt they used less water than nonnal and turf grasses were greener
due to the lack of chlorinated water.
Phase III of this project will retrofit existing home taps with meters and finish the
west side of Main Street. Due to lack of residential meters, the savings shown were only
in gallons of Treated Water. A wet spring and summer were also tDlusual this year. The
96 season should give a larger picture of true savings, The Committee, Town Board and
citizens wish to express their gratitude to the C.W.C.B. in fimding this project and making
their lives a greener one.
