I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
,I
I
I
I

Page two

GRANT PROPOSAL PROJECT

-Brochures

We would like to make available printed
materials which would include three
brochures;
1. garden map and plant list including
common and latin names, xeric/low-water
use or adaptable, and elevation,

2. general information on mountain
gardening including soils, preparation
and amendments, mulching to retain soil
moisture, microclimates, etc.

3. Living in harmony with mountain
wildlife- plant list repellent to small
and large game

-Information Box

On-site weatherproof box for
distribution of brochures to community.

-On-Site Tools

An assortment of tools for volunteer
gardeners. Normally volunteers provide
their own tools, but it would be helpful
to have some on-site.

-Additional Plant
Materials

We would like to provide more examples
of low-water use plants that do well in
our mountain environment.

-Improved Plant
Signage

Because of the sun intensity at this
elevation printed signs fade very
quickly. We would like to install more
long-lasting, easily read information
signs.

-Garden
Sign

Identification
We would like to install a carved sign
which identifies the garden as a xeric
demonstration garden, utilizing the same
style of sign that is currently being
used in our community

PARTICIPANTS/COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

This has been a joint project with the Evergreen
Metropolitan District and volunteers from the Evergreen Garden
Club. Volunteer labor will be used wherever possible to keep
project costs at a minimum.
