Facilities and Equipment

The real-time forecast model and high-volume simulations are run on a cluster ofPCs at
the Colorado State University, Department of Atmospheric Science. We budgeted for an
expansion of that system in order to accommodate two runs per day, one for seeding and
the other for a background run.

The model that we use is the RAMS@CSU model which contains features such as two
modes in cloud droplets, advection, diffusion, and activation of CCN/GCCN/IFN which
is not available on the supported version of RAMS.

II-38
