4. Ent!:ineerint!: Estimate for Entity that is Not Currently Elit!:ible but Will Become
Elit!:ible.
This is not applicable to the City of Northglenn. It is currently a covered entity.
s. Backe:round Characterization of Water System and Potential Growth:
Source of information for both Sa and 5b: US Census - Population Division (released
6/21/06) and plant production numbers.
(a) Current and past years per capita water use for the last five years and the basis
for this calculation:
The City's principle water supply source is Clear Creek with a small amount of
Transbasin Water from the Frazier River Basin. These are stored at Standley Lake. All
sources are surface water. Total water use for the first six months of2006 is 906 million
gallons (MG). This number is from plant production records.
Formula: The gallons per capita day was derived from total annual water billed (data
from the City of North glenn utility billing system) divided by population numbers from
the US Census - Population Division calculated to a daily value or A/B/365.
YEAR Total annual water Population (B) Average Water Use
usage for residential (Gallons) per Day per
users in MG (A) Capita (gpcd)
2000 1,659,957 31,822 143
2001 1,588,860 32,691 133
2002 1,620,685 33,759 132
2003 1,405,668 33,398 115
2004 1,330,655 33,081 110
2005 1,487,293 32,906 124
(b) Past, current and predicted population served by the City and source of
information:
Ninety-three percent of North glenn's service area is developed. The population is not
expected to grow considerably. Using DRCOG projections adjusted by the City of
Northglenn Planning Department, the total population is estimated to be 38,850. This
population increase equates to an increase of an additional 500 acre-feet at build out in
2020.
(c) Estimated water savings goals to be achieved through implementation of the
Plan:
The City's water conservation plan is designed to be implemented in a programatic
matrix manner. This allows the City to select program elements based on the desired
level of water savings. The greater the water savings target, the more austere the
program element. This approach is flexible, timely and targeted. Although the City is
currently achieving a significant water savings, it is anticipated that the implementation
August 30, 2006
