community.

.

Castle Rock

Castle Rock was awarded $25,000 for a two-phased project. Phase One will "make-over"
three homes to demonstrate state-of-the-art water conserving devices. In Phase Two, the city will
offer rebates to customers who install various water conservation fixtures or measures. This
project includes sponsors and in-kind donations from local merchants and will provide the state
with information about customer motivation.

Gi lcrest

Gilcrest was awarded $16,600 to conduct an information campaign, to distribute water
conservation plumbing retrofit devices and to rehabilitate a park irrigation well. The town
anticipates a cost increase as it switches from ground to surface water supply but this new effort
will help to educate customers and reduce use.

San Mil!Uel Countv

San Miguel County received a grant of $2,500 to produce a "Citizens Water Guide for the .
Basin" and to conduct a conference on water and conservation as part of this larger educational
effort for the fast-growing Upper San Miguel Basin. The project includes participation from the
Telluride Institute and the Telluride Times-Journal.

Bavfield

The Bayfield School District was awarded $7,000 for an outdoor classroom demonstrating low
water use plants on the elementary school grounds. The outdoor classroom would incorporate
all aspects of water efficient landscaping and provide an educational demonstration for students
and community members. Participants include the School District, Elementary School
Beautification committee and residents. Soil moisture sensors and the outdoor classroom are
unique components to a project in this setting.

Lake Pueblo State Park

The Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation was awarded $1,800 to design and install a
solar-operated irrigation system. This innovation will convert an existing manually operated
irrigation system at Lake Pueblo State Park to one operated with an automatic timer.

.

.
