The <br />estimated total cost of the project is $69,333. Please see the attached project summary and map. <br /> <br />Backaround <br />The RGPVDc, located in Rio Grande County, owns and operates the Rio Grande and Piedra <br />Valley Ditch to deliver direct flow irrigation water for the benefit of the shareholders. Water is <br />diverted from the Rio Grande River about 4 miles northwest of Monte Vista, and delivered through <br />a 9-mile ditch system to the 7,660-acre service area. There are thirteen (13) check structures <br />throughout the system that are about 40 years old, wooden and in various states of decay. The <br />Company wants to replace all thirteen check structures during the fall of 2003. <br /> <br />Feasibility Studies <br />Laurie Clark, P.E. (Natural Resources Conservation Service - Monte Vista) has completed the <br />Feasibility Study, with the assistance of William McNeil, President of the RGPVDc. The study <br />includes an assessment of alternatives for repair or replacement of the wooden check structures. <br /> <br /> <br />The Rio Grande and Piedra Valley Ditch Company <br />The RGPVDc is a mutual ditch company and a non-profit corporation registered in the State of <br />Colorado. There are 31 shareholders and 204.32 shares of stock. The RGPVDc has the power <br />to set annual assessments to be paid by the shareholders, the power to cut off water deliveries <br />to shareholders that fail to pay their assessments, and the power to offer stock for sale to pay <br />back assessments. <br />
