Samples taken from the reservoir have

indicated excessive phosphorus content and this study will determine what

restorative water quality measures the reservoir and watershed may require.

Excessive phosphorus stimulates algae growth. The study is funded by the U, S,

Environmental Protection Agency, and municipalities and water and sanitation

districts in the area, with assistance from the Colorado Water Quality Control

Division, Bear Creek Park is located a mile west of Kipling. off Morrison Road

in Lakewood.

The user survey consists of a questionnaire which will be distributed to ap-

proximately 1,000 visitors at the park entrance. Number of visits, areas visited,

and purposes will be asked as will condition of the water, and observed plants

and animals, The survey also asks for suggestions on how to improve the area,

Park rangers will conduct intermittent personal interviews with approximately 100

visitors over the summer, Questionnaires will be distributed to the park's winter

users as well.

Execufive Comminee
Marjorie E.
