At 11 :00 a.m. on the 31st Colorado River water began <br />filling Copper Basin. As the water level rose readings were t"ken <br />of the deflection in the Copper Basin arch d"m. With w"ter level <br />up to elevation 1025.85 or 2.15 feet below the spillway lip the <br />maximum deflection was YlIi of an inch. On the morning of March <br />13th one of the three outlet gates was opened sufficiently to release <br />into the Whipple Mountain tunnel 10 c.f.s. of Colorado River water <br />on its way to the third pump lift at Iron Mountain. <br />Final quantities and other data concerning the dams are given <br />in table 15. The total costs of dams and appurtenant works as of <br />June 30, 1940 are $19,791.59 for exploratory work, $392,210.02 at <br />Gene Wash, and $644,546.62 at Copper Basin. <br /> <br />PUMPING PLANTS <br /> <br />ConstTuction <br /> <br />The location and a general description of the pumping plants and <br />major equipment were given in the history and first annual report. <br />
