Conchlu Re.sorvoir <br /> <br />(1) The Conchas Dam is located aoross the South <br />Ce.nadhn River s:t a site approximately 27 miles nortlnYest of Tuoumco.ri, <br />N.~. The projeot 18 now co~p16ted and being maintained by the Corps <br />of Engineers. This projeot ~~s approved by the Pro.sident in 1935 8..s a <br />part of the Works Relief Probrwm under the Jmargency Relief Appropria- <br />tion Act of 1935. It was adopted by Congress in the 1936 Flood Control <br />Act to provide flood control, irrication, and municipal water supply <br />benefits. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />(2) The dam oonsists of a conorete main dam and earth <br />wing dams. The main d!U!l has. a maximum height of 235 feet. The total <br />cost was ;15,500,000. The dam at present provides 100,000 aore-feet of <br />dead storage at the bottom, am. 300.000 acre-feet of irrigation storage. <br />Crest gates may be installed on the dam whioh will provide another <br />100,000 acre-feet of stora~e, and above that there still remains 100,000 <br />aore-feet of surcharged storage before the emergenoy spillway comes into <br />operation. At present the crest gates are not installed and the only <br />flood oontrol is that obtained by surcharged storage. The oonstruotion <br />of the dam will materially reduce flood damage in the valley of the <br />South Canadian River. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />(3) The Bureau of Reclamation and the Arch Hurley Con- <br />servanoy District ~ve contraoted for an irrigation projeot involving <br />80me 45.000 acres of land dov~stream. The Bureau of Reclamation is now <br />oonstruoting the necessary distribution system for this projeot. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />o. Fort Supply Reservoir <br /> <br />This dam is located on -'olf Creek: about 3 miles above its <br />confluenoe with the North Canadian RiVEtr', one nile south of the town of <br />Sup?ly, Okla.., and 14 miles northwest of i"Joodward.
