They have demonstrated further support through the willingness <br /> <br />to contract with the United States for repayment of the project's costs as <br /> <br />prescribed in the acts of this Congress. The District has a contract to pay <br /> <br />the United States Treasury also $91,000.00 per year for our apportioned <br /> <br />share. <br /> <br />Greater payments will be made to the united States as the values of <br /> <br />the agricultural conunodities change. The water service contract meets the <br /> <br />administration's objectives in the area of repayment also. <br /> <br />The repayment <br /> <br />escalator clause assures that the United States will receive a fair payment <br /> <br />on their wise investment. <br /> <br />Colorado strongly supports the Narrows Project. <br /> <br />The Narrows again <br /> <br />became the number one priority for construction of the Colorado Water <br /> <br />Conservation Board. The Governor and the State Legislature have recognized <br /> <br />the increasing importance of the development of the water resources in <br /> <br />meeting the demands placed on Colorado by the energy crises, food production, <br /> <br />foreign exchange of agricultural conunodities, and others, such as gasohol <br /> <br />proposals. To meet these demands the Colorado State Legislature is in the <br /> <br />process of establishing a fund to meet the financial requirements for the <br /> <br />development of Colorado's water resources. Monies would be available from <br /> <br />this fund to meet the state's share of the construction costs for future <br /> <br />federal projects and other purposes. <br /> <br />Over the past years we have enjoyed the opportunities to present to <br /> <br />this conunittee, myriads of facts and information outlining the need for the <br />
