To determine the most suitable plan to provide flood protection <br /> <br /> <br />for the city of Trinidad and at the same time make more water available <br /> <br /> <br />for agricultural and industrial uses, investigations for this report in- <br /> <br /> <br />cluded reconnaissance surveys, instrL~ental surveys, and foundation in- <br /> <br /> <br />vestigations at the proposed project sites; property appraisals, deter- <br /> <br /> <br />mination of the flood pl~in; flood damage surveys; and detailed office <br /> <br /> <br />analyses of all field data obtained. <br /> <br /> <br />6. All maps and aerial photographs available from other Governmental <br /> <br /> <br />agencies and private interests were utilized when practicable. Where <br /> <br /> <br />suitable map~ were not available, topographic maps were prepared from <br /> <br /> <br />field survey~. Aerial photographs were used extensively in delineation <br /> <br /> <br />of flood pla~ns, for locating cultural features, and in the revision of <br /> <br /> <br />out-of-date waps. <br /> <br /> <br />7. Flood plains were delineated Qy reference to maxilnum high water <br /> <br /> <br />marks which could be reliabJy identified for floods of record. Water <br /> <br /> <br />surface profiles were computed for hypothetical floods to evaluate the <br />
