<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />.. . . . <br /> <br />OCC999 <br /> <br />ZNGBR <br />824.02(Purgatoir" (Picket Wire) River, Colorado) <br />Subject: Purgatoire River, Colorado <br /> <br />by the Corps of Engineers of a dam and reservoir above Trinidad, Colorado, <br />at about river mile 161, generally in accordance with the plans of the <br />district engineer and with such modifications thereof as in the discretion <br />of the Chief of Engineers may be advisable; at an estimated cost of <br />$17,000,000 for construction and $22,000 annually for maintenance and <br />operation; provided: (a) that local interests give assurances satisfactory <br />to the Secretary of the Army that they will contribute in cash at the time <br />of construction 4.5 percent of that portion of the first cost allocated to <br />flood control, presently estimated at $372,000, and maintain the channel <br />of Purgatoire River through the city of Trinidad; (b) that repayment of <br />the first cost allocated to irrigation, established as 51 percent of the <br />total project cost and presently estimated at $8,732,000, and the local <br />contribution toward annual maintenance and operation, established as 54 <br />percent of the total cost of the project annual maintenance and operation <br />and presently estimated at $12,000, be generally in accordance with Fed- <br />eral Reclamation law procedures except that repayment of the irrigation <br />first cost may extend over a period not to exceed 75 years; and (c) that <br />existing authority for the construction of the local protection project <br />at Trinidad, Colorado, be abrogated at the time of initiation of construc- <br />tion on the dam and reservoir project. <br /> <br />For the Board: <br /> <br />B.
