To accomplish this mission the subcommittee is comprised of <br />agencies and individuals involved in efforts to control ,these sources, arid <br />also interests which may be affected by these efforts. <br /> <br />The subcommittee will serve in the following roles: <br /> <br />1) To review and make recommendations for proposed changes to the Colorado <br />Nonpoint Assessment Report. <br /> <br />2) To determine appropriate management programs for c6ntrol of <br />abandoned/inactive mines and to update and modify these programs as <br />necessary. <br /> <br />3) To develop a best management practices (BMP's) handbook for ",' <br />abandoned/inactive mines and update these practices as necessary. <br /> <br />4) To prioritize and recommend abandoned/inactive mine projects for <br />nonpoint source funding. <br /> <br />5) To serve as a point for public input for abandoned and inactive mining <br />nonpoint source water quality issues. <br /> <br />6) To determine public education and information needs, for abandoned,and <br />inactive mining nonpoint sources. <br /> <br />,The subcommittee will have open membership, but the following organizations <br />represent a core ,group which should be intimately involved in the subcommittee: <br /> <br />Water Quality Control Division <br /> <br />colorado Environmental Coalition <br /> <br />colorado Mining Association <br /> <br />Colorado Division of Wildlife <br /> <br />Mined Land Reclamation Division <br /> <br />Mission Statement of the Hvdroloaic Modification Subcommittee <br /> <br />The mission of the hydrologic modification subcommittee is to serve as the <br />advisory council to the Colorado Nonpoint Source Task Force and the Water <br />.Quality Control Division for pollution problems related to hydrologic <br />modification. To accomplish this mission the subcommittee is comprised of <br />agencies and individuals involved in efforts to control or reduce negative <br />water quality impacts from hydrologic modifications and also interests which <br />may be effected by these efforts. <br /> <br />Page 13 <br />
