.,

Chapter 6

Arkansas River
Coordinating Committee

The State Engineer, Hal Simpson, and the Executive Director of the Colorado Water
Conservation Board, Daries "Chuck" Lile, convened a meeting of the Committee in Lamar,
Colorado on December 11, 1995. The Conimittee was updated on the status of the 1996
Use Rules and informed of the contents of the Arkansas River basin legislation (SB 96-124,
Appendix A). No decisions were made and the Committee made no further
recommendations.

Future of the Committee

One future meeting of the Committee is expected and the Committee will then most
likely disband. However, Hal Simpson and Chuck Lile plan to continue to use the
relationships developed through that Committee as a method of communication with water
users and community leaders of the Arkansas River valley.

14
