The purpose <br />of the report is to inform individuals involved with AQUATRAIN <br />of current and upcoming activities so that a coordinated effort <br />can be maintained and project flag dates met. <br /> <br />2.0 SU8TEAM: WATER RIGHTS/WATER SUPPLY/STATE ISSUES (Sturges-Murray) <br /> <br />2.1 SEPTEMBER EVENTS <br /> <br />Clinton spoke before the Western Legislative Conference <br />in Fairbanks, Alaska. He received strong, positive reactions <br />to the AQUATRAIN concept from legislators from potentially- <br />affected states. California was not represented at the <br />meeting. <br /> <br />McKeever and John Thurman testified before the Subcommittee <br />on Water and Power of the Committee on Energy and Natural <br />Resources, U.S. Senate, in support of S.752. McKeever and <br />Sturges-Murray attended a prehearing breakfast hosted by <br />Jack 8arnett, Executive Director, Colorado River Basin Salinity <br />Control Forum. Representatives of each of the seven states <br />attended. <br /> <br />~et with Carl 8ernklau, West Divide Project, to discuss <br />the availability of water supplies to replace water from <br />Glenwood-Dotsero Springs, Colorado, for AQUATRAIN. <br /> <br />Briefed Utah State Agency representatives and met with repre- <br />sentatives of the Utah Sierra Club and the Utah Wilderness <br />Society. <br /> <br />2.2 ANTICIPATED OCTOBER EVENTS <br /> <br />Attend Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Forum Work <br />Group meeting in San Francisco, October 5. <br /> <br />Brief Utah State Legislative Study Committees on Transportation <br />and Public Safety and Energy and Natural Resources, October 19. <br /> <br />2.3 ANTICIPATED NOVEMBER EVENTS <br /> <br />Attend Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Forum meeting <br />in Phoenix, Arizona. <br />
