Douglas advised that in the Rocky Mountain area the date is 1972; Sierra Nevadas 1973; and the Gulf regions 1975. Young asked, "what the program would cost when it is in operation?1I Douglas stated an area 100 miles wide and 100 miles long would cost around $50.000 a year. Recessed for lunch: ...: 1 FRYINGPAN-ARKANSAS PROJECT REPORT: '-:-.: Project Manager Ogi.1vie reported that work has been curtailed due to the coming of winter ~ and the completion of Ruedi and Turquoise ReBervoirs. He said work on the Divide Tunnel is progressing very well. and one week they were able to tunnel 209 feet. He said they are still in good ground and are most optimistic they will be ahle to hole through in April barring any additional problems with bad ground. Ogilvie reported they expect the first phase of the railroad relocation at Pueblo Reservoir to be completed in December, and the D & R G will then commence laying ba.llast~ ties and rails with a completion date of July. He said they are running into Some specification problems in qwarding contracts, and that in the future~ contractors will not bid on long term contract6. Contracts should be let this spring for the Hunter Creek Tunnel~ initial work on the Northside Collection System~ and Pueblo Reservoir. 'I :1 M & I Pipeline: Ogilvie reported that studies on this project are still being 'carried 00, and the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation is awaiting word from the Secretary of lnterior aut~orizing the pipelines to be made a part of the Project. 'I LAMAR REQUEST: President Nichols reported that Project Manager Ogilvie and General Manager Thomson met with Attorney Charles J. Beise and bimse1f~ in Colorado Springs, to review portions of the Black and Veatch report relative to costs of the pipeline, and Ogilvie and Thomson will meet with Lamar City Officials in Lamar on Tuesday, November 26. He suggested the Engineering Committee meet prior to the December meeting. in order that a recom.- mendation regarding the Black & Veatch Report might be submitted to the Board for action. . -3-
