Stream -deposited cia)'. sllt. sand. and gravel; glacial deposits of sand. sUt. <br />and clay; and wmd deposited silt and sand. Yields large quantities to wells in the Elkhorn. Loup and <br />Lower Platte Subbasins. Also a major source of water in the eastern half of the Upper Platte Subbasin <br />and locally along the flood plains and terraces of the major streams in the western half of the <br />subbasin. Locally in the eastern parts of the Elkhom and Lower Platte Subbasins the deposits con- <br />sist for the most part of clay and clayey sands and the deposits are poor sources of water. <br /> <br />~~t <br /> <br />Ogallala Formation. Mostly stream -deposited clay. sUt. sand. and gravel: often cemented with <br />. calcium carbonate to form siltstone, sandstone, or sandy limestone.
