I might say this
system covers about 15,000 acres of the choice lanjs along the Platte River here
in Horgan and Washington COW1ties, Colorado.

lie have felt a definite need for a Channel Reservoir for many years and will
enumerate some of the reasons why we feel that ,'ay.

I. We feel that considerable water is being lost some seasons due to our
inability to store in present established reser, oirs.

II. A large reservoir on the channel somewhere up stream from here, would
be of great advantage in capturing this surplus water, and would doubt-
less cause a steadier flow in the river and elL~ate serious flood
damages that have occurred from time to time in the past years.

.,

III. It should also eliminate the needs of such elaborate structures in the
way of dams, headgates, etc., as the need for building such for a smal-
ler flood would be much che1iper than now, ,:hen we have to build for
maximUlll amoW1ts that occasionally corne in the large flood.

"

IV. Also we feel that with proper controls the chances of loss of crop due
to long periods of drought would be alleviated to a great extent.

V. How many miles upstream this structure "ere located would also have a
bearing on our benefits as the Bijou Creek comes in just below the Nar-
rows and if it is controlled it "Tould elininate considerable loss among
our farms due to the fact that where Bijou flootls it is carrying snch a
load of clay that it is practically worthless for irrigation purposes
for many miles down the river. It see~s to us that any reservoir
