A <br /> <br />later independent review of the specifications for the injec- <br /> <br />tion well showed that the specifications were inadequate for <br /> <br />a well in the selected location of the salt dome. Additional <br /> <br />study is needed to select a suitable location for the injec- <br /> <br />tion well; this will result in a delay in the award of the <br />contract until about March 1985. The Paradox Valley Unit <br />still appears to be one of the most cost-effecti ve salini ty <br /> <br />control units, and the Council requests that Reclamation com- <br /> <br />plete construction as quickly as possible. <br /> <br />Reclamation <br /> <br />should expedite the contract for drilling and testing of the <br />deep well injection disposal method. <br /> <br />Reclamation filed an application for a change of water <br /> <br />rights and a plan for augmentation in February of 1983 for <br /> <br />the Paradox Valley Salinity Control Project. This applica- <br /> <br />tion would transfer water previously used on land in the <br /> <br />NcPhee Reservoir' area of the Dolores Project to the Paradox <br /> <br />Valley well field. The state of Colorado, acting through the <br /> <br />Division of Water Resources and the Colorado Water Conser va- <br /> <br />tion Board, has filed the necessary documents to establish <br /> <br />standing in the case. The State of Colorado will work with <br /> <br />the Bureau of Reclamation in an effort to resolve any issues <br /> <br />which this filing may raise.
