<br />~ <br />en the Survey is preparing two reports which are of interest to <br />~ <br />~1 the Advisory Council: <br /> <br />1. ~Contribution of ground water and other natural <br /> <br />sources to the salinity of streams in the Upper <br /> <br />Colorado River basin in Colorado and adjacent parts <br /> <br />of Wyoming and Utah~ by James Warner, Fredrick <br /> <br />Heimes, and Robert Middelburg, and <br /> <br />2. "Trend analysis of salt load and evaluation of the <br /> <br />frequency of water-quality measurements for the <br /> <br />Gunnison, Colorado, and Dolores Rivers in Colorado <br /> <br />and Utah" by James Kircher, Richard Dinicola, and <br /> <br />Robert Middelburg. <br /> <br />The Council urges that these reports be completed as <br /> <br />soon as possible so that the information will be available <br /> <br />for use by the States and Reclamation. <br /> <br />The Council has notified representatives of the Survey <br /> <br />that water-quality monitoring records as well as periodic <br /> <br />analyses for common ions including dissolved solids, are of <br /> <br />particular interest to the Council and the Bureau of Reclama- <br /> <br />tion. <br /> <br />The Council urges that this information be made <br /> <br />available on a timely basis to facilitate water-quality <br /> <br />reports of the Council and Bureau of Reclamation. <br /> <br />The Council is pleased that the U.S. Geological Survey <br /> <br /> <br />is taking an active role in the activities of the Council and <br /> <br />looks forward to their continued participation. <br /> <br />-17- <br /> <br />. <br />
