Pollution Abatement

a. Statement: The objective of wdter pollution control is to
preserve and improve the quality of the water resources for such uses as
public water supplies, industrial water supplies, agricultural, power,
navigation, wildlife, fish and aquatic life, recreation and other legit-
imate uses. The investiGation of this problem will consist of the
following steps:

(1) Determine present pollution contributed to water resources.

- etermine pollution prevention measures in e ect.

(3) Determine existing water uses ini'luenced by pollution.

(4) Determine the location of necessary field investigations
on special water pollution problems.

(5) Field Investigations.
(6) Determine water quality objectives for recognized water

uses.

(7) Determine pollution abatement measures required to meet
water quality objectives consistent with other plans developed in the
comprehensive investigation.

(8) Carry through economic Cost-Benefit studies as related
to water pollution control.

(9) Recommended plan.

(Bureau of Mines, Fish and Wildlife, Geologic Survey, Bureau of Rec-
lamation), Department of Agriculture, State Agencies (Water Pollution

and Resources, State Board of Health, Geologic Survey, Department of
Agl:iculture) .
