Sponsors of small water projects will be unlikely <br /> <br />to have the resources necessary to prepare their own modeling <br /> <br />analyses for Section 7 consultations. <br /> <br />Consequently, it must be <br /> <br />determined what entity will maintain and use the model for Section <br /> <br />7 consultations, if indeed the Riverware model is to be used in <br /> <br />Section 7 consultations. <br /> <br />If so, one option is that the federal agencies requesting <br /> <br />Section 7 consultations with the Fish and Wildlife Service be <br /> <br />responsible for either developing their own San Juan River Basin <br /> <br />model or acquiring and using both the Riverware software and the <br /> <br />San Juan River Basin model configuration with related processors. <br /> <br />Another option is that one federal agency, such as the Bureau of <br /> <br />Reclamation, be designated as being responsible for maintaining the <br /> <br />Riverware model for the Basin, related processors and model data, <br /> <br />and for using the model. <br /> <br />The latter option is more likely to <br /> <br />result in consistent model applications.
