COLORADO RIVER WATER USERS' ASSOCIATION
ELEVENTH ANNUAL MEETING

~

The Eleventh Annual Meeting of the Colorado River Water Users'
Association was called to order by President Carl A. Anderson at
Hotel Last Frontier, Las Vegas, Nevada, Wednesday at 9:45 AM,
December 8, 1954.

The address of welcome was given by the Honorable Charles H.
Russell, Governor of Nevada.

President Anderson reviewed the history of the Colorado River
Water Users' Association for new members present and also pointed
out the ideals upon which the Association based its existence..

Excerpts from President Anderson's address follow:

PURPOSES, AIMS, AND ASPIRA TIONS OF THE ASSOCIA TION
Carl A. Anderson, President

I wish to review and re-emphasize the purposes, the aims, and
the aspirations of this Association in order that our thinking and our
consequent actions may be projected in as direct a manner as possible.

The basic reason for our existence as an Association is our
mutual interest and conCern in those matters and problems which affect,
in varying degree, our vast area within the Colorado River Basin. Not
affiliated with any political organization or political party, as an
Association we seek to avoid the morass of selfish influence designed to
Secure unfair advantage for any segment of any area within the Basin"

f

As unofficial ambassadors of our various states, we meet for a
friendly and open discussion of our individual problems, in order that as
good neighbors we can arrive at an impartial judgment of the action to be
taken for the good of the entire area"

This is a challenge to our ingenuity, our zeal and our imaginations.
Let us chart our courSe so that future meetings of this organization can in
all honesty say "Well done. "

********

The following committees were appointed by the President:

RESOLUTIONS COMMITTEE:

Harry Horton, California
Chairman
Hampton C. Godbe, Utah
Victor 1. Corbell, Arizona

- 1 -
