It has been written as a b~sis <br /> <br />for soliciting eomments from concerned agencies prior to preparation of <br /> <br />the Environmental Statement. <br /> <br />r........ <br />",""_:lo <br /> <br />The project is sponsored by the Yellow Jacket Water Conservancy <br /> <br />District and was given priority for investigation as a potential participating <br /> <br />Project of the Colorado River Storage Project under Public Law 485, <br /> <br />84th Congress on April II, 1956. The project has been investigated <br /> <br />according to feasibility standards and the plan was selected through <br /> <br />cooperative efforts of local, state, and federal agencies. The projects <br /> <br />primary pnrpose is to regulate the flows of the North Fork of the Wh ite <br /> <br />River for municipal, industrial, and irrigation uses. Its secondary effects <br /> <br />., <br /> <br />would be to provide recreation opportunities, maintain fish and wildlife <br /> <br />resources, and reduce flood damage along the White River drainage. <br /> <br />Environment in the Project Area <br /> <br />Location <br />The Yellow Jacket Project area is in northwestern Colorado <br /> <br />in the Yampa and~hite River Basins, which are part of the Upper <br />
