acres or 196 square miles by floodwater retarding structures,
multiple-purpose structures and land treatment. Authorized for
planning 7-22-69 with planning 60 percent complete. Completion
of planning deferred pending local decision concerning water
rights.

Soil Conservation Service - Coordinated River Basin Surveys
and Investigations:

Red River Basin above Denison Dam - Oklahoma and Texas. The
Red River Basin above Denison Dam comprises about 39,700 square
miles and includes all the area in New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas
drained by the Red River and its tributaries above Denison Dam.
The cooperative river basin survey will be conducted at a Level B
intensity of planning by the USDA in cooperation with the Texas
Water Development Board, Texas State Soil and Water Conservation
Board, Texas Water Rights Commission, Texas Interagency Council
on Natural Resources and the Environment, the Oklahoma State Soil
Conservation Board, and Oklahoma Water Resources Board. The study
will be conducted by the U.S.D.A. under authority of P. L. 566,
as amended, with a joint effort of above State organizations and
the U. S. Soil Conservation Service, U. S. Forest Service, snd the
Economic Research Service. This study was initiated in FY 1973.
The plan of work has been completed. The collection of basic
data is underway.

Soil Conservation Service - Resource Conservation and De-
velopment Projects:

1. East Mud Creek (not shown on map) Purpose is to provide
watershed protection and flood prevention for 23,300 acres or
36 square miles by floodwater retarding structures. Planning is
10 percent complete.

2. Fun Country, Oklahoma (See Map 2) Purpose is to expand
the economic opportunities for the people of an area of 4,283,427
acres or 6,693 square miles by developing and carrying out a plan
of action for the orderly conservation, improvement, development
and wise use of all their natural and human resources. USDA as-
sistance to sponsors authorized 3-5-75.
