State Under round Water Source Protection Pro ram and
State Underground Injection Control Program not shown on map
An Environmental Protection Agency program designed to provide
grants to states for enforcement of groundwater protection and
control programs to alleviate the endangerment of underground
drinking water sources through the Safe Drinking Water Act -
Public Law 93-523.

Stream Water Division:

a. Certification of Stream Water Rights Program - purpose
is to certify rights to the use of stream water under vested
rights and permits. This program will promote the maximum bene-
ficial use of Oklahoma's stream water resources and will enable
the Board to better determine the amount of water available for
future appropriations.

Planning activities of the Bureau of Reclamation, the Corps
of Engineers and the Soil Conservation Service for Fiscal Year
1976 are presented on a watershed basis, using the original AWR
Basin segment breakdown:

Arkansas River Basin above Keystone Dam
Cimarron and Canadian River Basins
Arkansas River Basin below Keystone Dam
Red River Basin above Denison Dam
Red River Basin below Denison Dam

In each of these basin segments, information is arranged in
the following order: Bureau of Reclamation, Corps of Engineers,
and Soil Conservation Service. Reference is made to the proper
map which depicts the study area described in the narrative dis-
cussing each individual activity or project.

Arkaneas River Basin above Keystone Dam - Bureau of Reclamation

1. Chikaskia Project, Kansas and Oklahoma - (See Map 1)
The investigation evaluates the feasibility of a multiple-purpose
reservoir of the Corbin site on the Chikaskia River to provide
high-quality water primarily for municipal and industrial water
requirements but consideration will be given to other potential
needs of the area including irrigation, recreationt fish and
wildlife and flood control. The studies made under the Arkansas-
White-Red River Basin investigations indicated potential develop-
ment of the water in the Chikaskia River. Further reconnaissance
investigations were made and a report completed in 1955. In Fiscal
Year 1966 feasbility-grade investigations were begun and a draft
report was completed and distributed for informal review in Fiscal
Year 1967. This report was primarily on the Co~bin dam site.
This report has been revised in the light of comments received
and updated due to changes since 1967.
