Arkansas River - Fort Smith to Pine Bluff. The area in <br />question is one of poor groundwater resources and rapid population <br />growth. Demands for potable water are even now outstripping sup- <br />plies in many areas, such as: Little Rock, Conway, Russellville, <br />Scranton, Dardanelle, Charleston, and many other small communities. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />If this study is not done many communities along the river <br />will be faci~g critical water shortages in the near future, with <br />impacts upon their economy, future growth, and health. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />2 Public Law 83-566.
