1. Page 45 is hereby modified to include the cost and the downstream effect

of including .off-farm lateral improvements with the onfarm program for

salinity control.

2. Table 17, page 46, is indexed to 1979 dollars and hereby modified to

include $10,900,000 for off-farm laterals in the total cost of installa-

tien, and to include $4,300,000 in dewnstream benefits from 100,000

tons of salt reduction from improving off-farm laterals.

3. The section of the report titled Irrigation System Improvements,

beginning on page 57, is hereby modified to include improvements in the

off-farm laterals necessary for proper functioning of onfarm

improvement s..

4. Table 23, page 60, is indexed te 1979 dollars and hereby modified to

include a line item showing the total estimated quantity and cost of

needed improvements in the off-farm laterals.

6. Table 25, page 66, is indexed to 1979 dollars and hereby modified to

include a line item showing the estimated annual level of funding needed

for the off-farm lateral improvements.

7. Environmental impacts of both onfarm and off-farm improvement measures

to control salinity are discussed in the Environmental Assessment for

the Grand Valley Unit, December 1977, prepared by the Bureau of

Reclamation (now Water and Power Resources Service) and the Soil

Conservatien Service. Impacts attributed to the lateral improvements

will be the same as identified in the assessment. The addition of

selected lateral work under the USDA onfarm program will not alter the

impacts of construction and .operation.
