Subject: San Juan-Chama (SJ-C) Project Monthly Status of Reservoir Storage
for Contractors of SJ-C Water

Enclosed for your records are tabulations summarizing the status of SJ-C
storage in E1 Vado and Abiquiu Reservoirs for all SJ-C contractDrs through the
end of April 1995.

During the month of March 1995, an internal transfer of storage took place in
Abiquiu Reservoir. At the beginning of each calendar year the Corps of
Engineers develops new storage allocations for Sangre De Cristo Water Company,
Department of Energy, City of Espanola, and TWining Water and Sanitation
District. The allocations typically decrease each year as estimates of
sediment deposition in the reservoir decreases the amount of available SJ-C
storage for the contractors. As a result of the decrease, the amount of water
in storage for each of the contractors exceeded their respective allocation
beginning January 1, 1995. An adjustment was made on March 27, 1995 to
temporarily transfer the excess water to the City of Albuquerque's (City) pool
since they had available space. Each contractor was notified of the transfer
and was encouraged to contact Mr. Gary Daves, from the City, to make
arrangements if they wished to maintain their water in the City's pool. The
transfer amounts are shown on the attached Abiquiu Reservoir table. If no
arrangements are made before July 31, 1995, then we will release it as soon as
a beneficial use can be found downstream (i.e. in accordance with the enabling
legislation for delivery and use of San Juan-Chama water).
