the temperature collection effort was realized in mid-May when data
from the recorder below Razorback Bar was used to identify the
beginning of razorback sucker spawning and crews were despatched for
spring sampling work.

B. Hydross Model Development

DWR participated in the development of a Colorado River Decision
Support System model being developed by the Colorado Water
Conservation Board by providing information on HYDROSS and reviewing
work in progress. Data developed for the Yampa River Feasibility
Study was incorporated into the HYDROSS model and the environmental
baseline for the Yampa River was updated to reflect newer data.

Yampa River Feasibility Study: DWR attended numerous Technical
Steering Committee meetings and provided information on the Yampa
River environmental baseline and reviewed reservoir operation
scenarios by Hydrosphere. Information on Yampa River diversion
depletions and return flows was also provided to Hydrosphere to
enable their model to duplicate the HYDROSS environmental baseline
as a benchmark.

C. Flooded Bottomlands.

DWR worked with Reclamation and Vernal CRFP office to identify flows
at areas such as Escalante wetland and Old Charly Wash that would
flood. Work entailed installing automatic cameras and water stage
recorders at inlets of these wetlands and monitoring daily flow and
stage at each location, The information from this work was
presented to the Flaming Gorge Coordinating Committee in September.

D, IS-Mile Reach Gage

DWR provided contract assistance to the Colorado Division of
Wildlife and U.S. Geological Survey to facilitate the operation and
maintenance of a gage in the IS-mile reach near Palisade, Colorado.
A second temporary gage has been installed at the lower end of the
IS-mile reach the past 3 years, Information from the 1993 gage
operation will be available in January, at which time a report will
be prepared and shared with the Water Acquisition Committee and the
Colorado Water Conservation Board. This information will be used to
support the application for an instream flow for the return flows in
the IS-mile reach.

4
