Water Supply Requirements
For each of the Planning Districts, projections were made For the
expected development of various types of densities of residential
housing; retail and commercial/industrial facilities; open space and
recreational facil ities; and expected development along the proposed
E-470 Highway corridor. These projections were based upon the estimated
percentage of build-out for the four Districts within the 30 year
construction horizon.

The population of unincorporated Arapahoe County in 1988 is approximately
113,000. The projected population by year 2020 is estimated to be
approximately 319,329. The study projects that the retail, commercial
and light industrial development with the planning Districts will total
approximately 172,853,806 square feet. The study concludes that there
will be approximately 1l,035 acres of land for pUblic facilities, open
space and recreational facilities with the areas studied. Approximately
one-third of this acreage is expected to be irrigated. gased on these
figures and the design parameters presented in Section-D, the total
projected water demand for the study area in the next 30 years wi 11 be
approximately 81,638 acre feet per year. A summary for the four
referenced districts is presented in Table / 11-2. The projections for
each of the individual Districts are shown in the Tables / 11-3, 11-4,
11-5, and 11-6.

These fi gures exceed the safe annual \~ater supply yield of the proposed
Arapahoe County Union Park Project, and show that the County should
anticipate the need for additional sources of water.

-19-
