Arapahoe County's Dependence on Ground Water Supply <br />I n recent years the dependence on ground water supply sources has <br />increased in Arapahoe County. A number of providers in the southea5t <br />corridor of the Denver Metropolitan area rely exclusively on ground water <br />50urce5 for thei r water supply requi rements. <br /> <br />Recently WRC Engineering, Inc. completed an assessment of the current and <br />projected ground water uses in the urbani zed area of Arapahoe County <br />which is presented in Table / II-I. The subject asse5sment covered the <br />area wi thi n Arapahoe County west of Gun Cl ub Road, and is 1 imi ted to <br />water provider5 that have been and are projected to rely exclusively on <br />the ground water sources for their water supplies. <br /> <br />Eighteen different water providers in the study area were identified ana <br />contacted for the purpose of obtaining information on their current and <br />projected (year 2010) ground water supply use. Nine of these providers <br />were identified as those who have and are projected in year 2010 to use <br />ground water as an exclusive source of their water 5upply. A listing of <br />these nine providers is presented in Table / II-I. The decreed amount of <br />ground water, current use of ground water, and projected year 2010 ground <br />water use is presented for each provider. It is projected that these <br />providers will continue to rely on ground water sources unless these <br />sources are replaced with renewable water supplies in the future. <br /> <br />Currently Arapahoe county owns 31% of the interest in the proposed <br />Arapahoe County Union Park Project. The project safe annual yield is <br /> <br />-16- <br />
