Additional delivery <br />facilities provided at intermediate points along the Jine include a <br />connection at Normandie Avenue for service to Southern Califor- <br />nia Water Company and a connection at Inglewood Avenue for <br />service to Southern California Water Company and California <br />Water Service Company. The 6.8-mile 45-inch diameter pipe line <br />was huilt under contract with United Concrete Pipe Corporation <br />at District expense except for the last quarter-mile of the pipe line <br />which was built at the expense of West Basin Municipal Water <br />District. which District also paid for the purchase and installation <br />of the six se,'vice meters. The Victoria Street lateral. completed <br />on the last day of the fiscal year. provides an additional service <br />outlet for each of the cities of Long Beach and Compton. The 54- <br />inch diameter 2.8-mile pipe line was built for the District by United <br />Concrete Pipe Corporation at District expense except for the cost <br />of the turnout structures and appurtenances which is being charged <br />to the respective cities. <br />One new additional connection was constructed on the upper <br />feeder to serve the City of Pasadena. This connection located about <br />a half-mile east of Sierra Madre Villa Avenue, will supply ,,'ater <br />directly to Pasadena's new Hastings reservoir. The connection to <br />the upper feeder was made by District forces, who also constructed <br />the valve structure and installed a 24-inch valve, The City of Pasa- <br />dena which is bearing all the expense of the installation, will install <br />the connecting pipe to the resel'voir, and will install the meter and <br />construct the meter vault. The District portion of the work was <br />completed in March 1950. One additional service connection was <br />installed by District forces in September 1949 for, and at the ex- <br />pense of the Coastal Municipal Water District on the Orange <br />County feeder. The 2-inch connection was installed in an existing <br />blowoff structure 0.6 mile north of Corona del Mar reservoir. <br />District forces, in conjunction with, and at the expense of the <br />Southem Califomia Water Company, installed an 8-inch connec- <br />tion to the upper feeder at College Avenue in Claremont. This <br />connection, installed in July 1949, was made under the terms of a <br />contract with the Southern California Water Company providing <br />for the sale to the company for its Claremont water system of <br />from 300 to 500 acre-feet of untreated surplus Colorado River <br />water over a six-month period. <br /> <br />1 <br />~ <br />.1 <br />~ <br />
