<br />UIJl26G <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Last month I also reported that Congress had reduced the funding level for the EQIP program <br />from a prior year lcvel of$200 million to S 174 million for FY 99 and with that action the Forum's <br />efforts in securing a National Priority Area designation for the Colorado River Basin apparently had <br />failed. It now appears that the Forum's efforts were not in vein. Included in the Board folder is <br />Memorandum 98-86 from the Executive Director of the Forum indicating that Mr. Gary Nordstrom, <br />Director of the Conservation Operations of the Natural Resource Conservation Service has in fact <br />designated two areas as "special interest areas" and has ear-marked dollars in Colorado, Utah, and <br />Wyoming to be spent on Colorado River salinity control programs. <br /> <br />Mr. Jack Barnett, Executive Director of the Forum will be in attendance at the Board's <br />December meeting and will give us his latest update on these and other issues the Colorado River <br />Basin states are confronting. <br /> <br />~....... p <br /> <br />Gerald R.
