This is written with the hODe that it may have
some influence on the people' of. Morgan County
cancerning the destruction 0 f Weldon Valley
through the building of, the proposed Narrows.
Dam' .

We have always felt that we have been a part
of Fort Morgan and have contributed materially
to the wealth of Morgan County, and to the towns
in the county; We would like to think you want
our business _ and will encourage us to continue
making Fort Morgan' our trade center.

To show YOU what the industry of Weldon Val.
ley is worth 'to the community, we have made a
house to house canvass and give you the follow.
ing accurate information. In Weldon Valley there
are 583 people consisting of a total of 176 fam.
i1ies. This in itself is an important asset to Morgan
County. The assessed valuation of the land that
would be taken by the Narrows Reservoir is
$709,000.00, and the valley produces about $100,.
000.00 in taxes annuallY. If a dam is built on this
reservoir lIite, you would lose this assessed val-

uation for tax payments. It would be made UD by
you. Possibly the merchants and businessmen
who feel favorably inclined to the Narrows Dam
might think they' could absorb the additional taxes
without too much problem. but the gross income
from Weldon Valley is something that cannot be
replaced.

If liny community in Morgan .County was lible
to lIecure a business that would have a payroll of
176 families with an income of four million dollars
a year, we are sure the Industrial Foundation' and
others interested in the prosperity 'of Morgan
County would welcome the opportunity to support
such a program. Certainly the people of Weldon
Valley would welcome such an arrangement, and
connot understand how anyone would want to de.
stroy that kind of an industry.

The fOllowing is an accurate representation of
the annual gross income produced in Weldon Val.
ley, and it is based' upon actual count. .The oil in-
