ADMINISTRATION

Resolution Honoring Malissa McKeith's Service to the Colorado River Board

Included in the Board folder is a resolution to honor Ms. McKcith for her service to the
Board. Ms. McKeith joined the Board August I, 1997. Her impact on the way the Board
approaches issues was immediate. Malissa worked diligently to increase the communications
among the Board members and the public through Board retreats and other informal meetings. She
was a ardent supporter of the Lower Colorado River Multi-Species Conservation Program, the
Minute 306 process, and development of California's Colorado River Water Use Plan as well as
involvement of the public in the Board's deliberations. Malissa's wise counsel, wit, and
determination to reach compromise positions within the Board will be missed.

Recently I have been informed that Malissa will receive the Carla Bard Award at this year's
California Water Policy Conference. This award will be presented during the dinner banquet on
October 9th at the Wilshire Grand Hotel.

AGENCY MANAGERS MEETING

The Agency Managers have not met since the August Board meeting.

PROTECTION OF EXISTING RIGHTS

Colorado River Water Reoort

As of August 29, 2002, storage in the major Upper Basin reservoirs decreased by 969,800
acre-feet and storage in the Lower Basin reservoirs decreased by 132,700 acre- feet during August.
Total System active storage as of August 29th was 38.444 million acre-feet (mat) or 65 percent of
capacity, which is 8.717 mafless than one year ago.

August releases from Hoover, Davis, and Parker Dams averaged 15,370, 14,900 and 11,400
cubic feet per second (cfs), respectively. Planned releases from those three dams for the month of
September 2002 are 13,000, 12,600, and 9,500 cfs, respectively. The August releases represent those
needed to meet downstream water requirements including those caused by reduced operation of
Senator Wash reservoir.
