Below the powerplant the water <br /> <br /> <br />would be regulated at the 226-ac:re-foot 'Calvada Reservoir. It would then <br /> <br />flow in the Truckee River channel and through existing facilities to meet <br /> <br /> <br />and su,pplement established rights and by exchan~ to make available some <br /> <br />of the Carson River water now used on the Newlands project for use higher <br /> <br />u,pst:reem. On some lands of the Truckee River S11ora~ project in Truckee <br /> <br /> <br />Meadows deep drains would me installed to allev:l:ate seeped condi.t1ons. <br /> <br /> <br />In the Carson River Basin the Watasb~amu Reservoir on the East Fork <br /> <br />of the, Carson River would be constructed to a capacity of 115,000 ac:re- <br /> <br />feet. !Ille :reservoir would :regulate flood flows now running to waste and <br />, <br /> <br />some water now used by the Newlands project which would be replaced from <br />I <br />. <br />the !l/ruCkee River. Releases from Watasheamu Reservoir would pass through <br /> <br />the 8,000-kilowatt Watasheamu powerplant at the base of the \iam. !Ille water <br />would then be regUlated at the Dressler :Diversion :Dam and Afterbay that <br />would impound 1,040 acre-feet. At this dam some water wO]J.ld be diverted <br />into the poten.t1al Carson Canal that would serve new lands along its course <br />in Carson Valley and that would also deliver water to the West Fork of <br /> <br />Carson River for distribution by existing canals diverting fI'Olll that stream. <br />Some wtl.ter by-passing :Dressler :Diversion Dam, tQgether with retu;rn nows <br />reaching the stream, would be diverted to lands in Carson Valley and in the <br />_ire, Dayton, and Fort ChurchiU areas. ~e remaining flows passing <br /> <br />:Dress.ler :Dam would continue on to the L9hontan Reservoir of the Newlan4s <br /> <br />project. ~e existing A11enna.tl Canal in Carson Valley would be enJ.ar~d <br /> <br />and extended or a new canal constructed.
