GU't" <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~e COrpS of Army Engineers and the Bureau must plan and coordinate <br /> <br />their work in the area to afford maximum flood protection. ~e Corps will <br /> <br />furnish the Bureau data on flood bene,fits attributable to the project and <br />will later fuJtnish flood operating criteria for the various dams and <br /> <br />reservoirs. <br /> <br />~e Fish and Wildlife Service and the Nationa.l Park Service have <br /> <br />had. and will continue to have an active part in the development and oper- <br /> <br />ation of the fish hatchery on the project and the recreational facilities <br /> <br />at the reservoirs. <br /> <br />~e Bureau of Indian Affairs will have an interest in the pi'Oject in <br /> <br />COOrdinating its proposed irrigation deve;Lopment, on the Truckee River and <br /> <br />the Pyramid Lake fishery. It also has small tracts of land in Carson Valley <br /> <br />that will have an im,proved water supply as a result of the project. <br /> <br />The Geological Survey will be asked to construct and maintain stream <br /> <br />gaging stations on a cooperative basis in the project a.rea. <br /> <br />The project will affect the activiifies of many other FederaJ. agencies <br /> <br />either directly or indirectly to varying degrees. ~e increased agricultural <br /> <br />output of project lands will affect many Department of Agriculture agencies. <br /> <br />~e Forest Service will be concerned with recreationa.l potentialities on <br /> <br />forest lands. Sanitation around reservoirs and Q,:rll.inage lands will be of <br /> <br />interest to the Department of Health and Public Welfare. <br /> <br />Without the excellent cooperation, interest, and encouragement mani- <br /> <br />fested by the various State and Federal agencies and by the people and <br /> <br />leaders of the communities to be served by the Washoe project, the Bureau <br /> <br />could not have brought the project to its present stage. Such a project <br /> <br />cannot be planned and built by a single group. It takes the Work, the <br /> <br />9 <br /> <br />
