The 175,000 shortage with Weld County is distributed:
68,000 above the reservoir site; zero between the sites, and
107,000 belo'" the site. With Narrows the 187,000 acre -f<i!et
shortage is distributed 69,000 above Weld County, 17,000 between
the sites and lOl,OOO acre-feet below Narrows site.

The results of our studies also show the following:

Results of U. S. Bureau of Reclamation
Narrows Unit Site Selection Study

1990 '1'ime Level

1. Additional water below Denver metro1>olitan area,
160,000 acre-feet.

2. There is sufficient demand below either the Weld
County or Narrows site to use all water developed.

3. The Weld County site reduces valley shortages
9,000 acre-feet more than Narrows without
additional facilities upstream, and 13,000
acre-feet more with additional facilities.

~. The benefits from controlling floods from Bijou
Creek are $~4,000 annually. This is not enough
to justify the costs of controlling Bijou Creek
with either site.

5. The irrigated acreage inundated by Narrows without
controlling Bijou Creek are less than those
inundated by the Weld County Site. However, the
cropped lands inundated by Narrows are about
1800 acres greater and the irrigated meadow lands
are much less.

6. The Weld County site fully meets the demands of
the Riverside and Bijou ditches and all other
ditches from the reservoir to, but not including
the North Sterling ditch.

7. The Narrows site can exchange 22,000 acre-feet
upstream to meet shortages. Seven-thousand'
acre-feet of this amount could be exchanged only
to the Riverside and Bijou headgates. The
remainder can be exchanged this far or on upstream
to the Burlington headgate.

6
