Supporting the operation of the pumping plants are the 237 miles
of 230,OOO-volt electric tran"mission line and the 436 miles of Dis-
trict-owned telephone lines. The operation and mainteJ:ance of thc
plants, combined with these facilities. required a force which aver-
aged 81 men, To maintain this force reqn;l'ed 28 replacements dur-
ing the year comr:ared with 23 in the previous year.
Due to interconnections with the Parker-Davis power network
of the D, S. Bureau of Redamation and the Southern California
Edison Company's huge system of high voltage transmission lines
it became ne"eSoary to increase the interrupting capacity of the
maiu oil circuit breaker" at the pumping plants, This work has been
accomplished at Gene and Hayfield and will soon be done at Iron
Mountain and Eagle Mountain,
