'~-l:l

\-~,~1

October 15, 1982

:1emorandum

To: Files

Subject: Response to U.S. Forest Service, September 14, 1982, Letter on
Draft Environmental Assessment for Dolores Project Road
Upgrading

1. Comment 1:

It is noted that throughout the assessment, the Ormiston Point Road (#521)
is referred to as a "stock driveway" or "stock trail". This road is in
fact classified on the' National Forest Transportation System as an
arterial route that is presently in a primitive condition. The Ormiston
Stock Driveway is a designated route for trailing stock to National Forest
grazing allotments that happens to coincide and parallel the system road
(1/521) .

Response:

The text has been revised and all references have been changed to the
Ormiston Point Road (#521).

2. Comment:

It should also be noted that the assessment refers to "Forest Service
roads" and "lands". Proper designation should be "National Forest" as the
roads are facilities of the National Forest Transportation System and the
lands are public lands of the National Forest System.

Response:

The document has been revised to accommodate this comment.

3. Comment:

See Page 1, A. Background, Fourth Paragraph. This paragraph refers to po-
tential sources of gravel surfacing material. The actual designation for
the "Beaver Rim Gravel Pit" should be the Dolores-Norwood Gravel Pit. The
Forest Service is in the process of designating this gravel source for
long-range development of aggregate materials for gravel surfacing.

Response:

The text has been changed to read the "Dolores-Norwood Gravel Pit".
