Air Quality - Reference to wood waste-disposal burners and open-burning
disposal areas is not pertinant to the affected air quality of the proposed
action.

Page 6, D. Wildlife

Fourth paragraph - Although the OI1lliston Point "Road" is in a primitive
condition, it is an existing permanent system road which would be recon-
structed.

Fifth paragraph second sentence. - Note that the "National Forest II road
(Dolores-Norwood) is limited to 40 mph.

Page 6, E. Treatened and Endangered Species

Is the "proj ect area" refered to the Dolores Project or the subject road
upgrading project? The Dolores Project area does not cover all of the
area for the propose road upgrading.

Pages 6 and 7, F. Cultural Resources

The first paragraph is not pertinent to the proposed road upgrading pro-
ject as the subject roads are outside of the Arr~zazi Archeological Dis-
trict.

Pages 7 and 8, Mineral Resources

As commented on previously, the OI1lliston Point gravel source site will
require a separate environmental assessment and further investigation
testing and mapping prior to allocation for gravel development. An
operating plan for the site will determine development area and re-
habilitation work.

The fill material borrow areas as referred to on page 8, have been changed
as a result of field investigations and as documented in a Special Use
Permit Application from the Bureau of Reclamation, Cortez Projects Office,
The two borrow sites referred to in the assessment have been deleted and
replaced with two sites (Areas C and D) as illustrated on the attached
maps. A cultural resource inventory must be conducted on these sites,
and if nO significant properties are present, a finding of no significant
impact for these sites would be appropriate.

Page 8, J. Summary

It should be noted that the proposed action will also provide access to
thousands of acreS of private lands.
