COOPERATIVE STUDIES AND ACTIVITIES: <br /> <br />Article VIII G( I) of Arkansas RiverCompactrequires the Administration to cooperate with <br />the Chief Offici1l1 of each of the states of Colorado and Kansas charged with the <br />1ldministration of water rights in their respective States, and with the Federal agencies in <br />systematically determining and correlating the facts pertaining to the flow and diversion of <br />the water of the Arkansas River and to the operation and siltation of John Mallin Reservoir <br />and other related structures. Article VIII G (2) requests the Director of the United States <br />Geological Survey. the Commissioner of the United States Bureau of Reclamation, and the <br />Chief of Engineers, United States Army, to cooperate and collaborate with the Administra- <br />tion and with nppropriate State officials in such determinations and correlations of stream <br />now and related data. Under the By-Laws of the Administration, these cooperative studies <br />and activities are assigned [0 the Engineering Committee of the Administration. <br /> <br />During the year covered by this report the Administration has received excellent coopera- <br />lion from all agencies referred lO in !he foregoing provisions of rhe Compact. The United <br />States Geological Survey has continued the operation of lhe compact gaging stations and <br />the analysis and compilation of the hydrologic data presented in this report and used in the <br />administration of the Compact. <br /> <br />The Corps of Engineers continued to operate the conservation pool of John Martin <br />Reservoir in accordance with the terms of the Compact and the orders of the Administra. <br />Lion. The area-capacity table for John Martin Reservoir issued by the Army Corps of <br />Engineers and put into effect August 12. 1981 was replaced by a new area.capacity table <br />effective on February 1, 1988. <br /> <br />6 <br />
