I

I

Exact storage capacity needs of the Water Bank for the next ten years have not been determined at this
time, However, for purposes of this Inventory, it was assumed that storage capacity requireme'nts based on
expanding the funds that will be available to the Bank provide a reasonable estimate of the storage capacity
the bank will require for the next ten years, The Water Bpnk recognizes that the Water Bank revenues. the
cost and the availability of water will fiuctuate over the next ten years; nonetheless, the simplifying
assumption is appropriate for this inventory. Table 1 shows the calculation for utilizing revenue projections
for 1998 as the base year. Based on this assumption. the Water Bank would need approximately 3.4 to 4.9
million acre feet of storage capacity over the next ten years or 335,000 to 488,000 acre feet each year.

I

I

I

I

Table 1
Area I Funds Available I Capacity A
Phoenix AMA
4 centTax = $S,7 M 250,000 at to 300,000 at
Wrthdrawal Fee = $2,0 M
Pinal AMA
4 cent Tax = $0.3 M 50,000 ar to 66,000 af
Wrthdrawal Fee = $0,7 M
Tucson AMA
4 cent Tax = $1.4M 35.000 af to 42,000 af
Wrthdrawal Fee = $0.7 M
Statewide
General Fund = $2,0 M 66,000 af to 80,000 af
Total (with G,F,) Tolal Funds = $12,8 M 401.000 af to 488,000 af
Total (without G,F,) Total Funds = $10,8 M 335.000 af to 408,000 af
(1) Capacity range that could be developed using available funds at the follOYJing cost of water to Ihe Bank
Phoenix - $251af (ave, 1997 Plan of Operation cost) to $3Olaf
Pinal- S 151af (ave. 1997 Plan of Operation cost) to S20/af -
Tucson - $50/al to $60faf
General Fund - 251at to SJOfaf

I

I

I

I

I

I

I
I

I

In preparing this Inventory, the Water Bank has also assumed that reexaminations of the storage facility

inventory will be necessary more frequently than every five years, at least during the early operation of the

Water Bank.
