II

I

OPERATING ASSUMPTIONS

I

The following is a list of major assumptions used in this study to

evaluate the changes in Gore Creek streamflow due to Green Mountain Reservoir

water sales.

I

II

I
I
II
I

'.

II

.

I
I

II
-

, II

, .
II

II

1)

1970, 1972, and 1977 represent hydrologic conditions for wet, normal
and dry water years, respectively.

2)

Domestic, municipal and irrigation water rights perfected before

October 1977 are protected from calls on the mainstem of the Colorado

River by Green Mountain Reservoir and as a r~sult will not be

affected by Green Mountain Reservoir water sales.

3)

Water to fill replacement requirements for the VVCWD will be released

from Green Mountain Reservoir into the Colorado River drainage, where

it will be available to meet downstream calls in e~change for

continued diversions in the Gore Creek drainage. A transmission loss

amounting to 10% of the required replacement volume is to be assessed

in determining the amount of water to be released.

4)

No storage facilities on Gore Creek e~ist from which water will be

released to protect out-of-priority diversions during the winter

months.

5)

Replacement-water needs e~pressed in the application for Green

Mountain Reservoir water servi~e represent additional. future

depletions only. E~isting uses will continue at historic levels, and

are not e~pected to be covered by the Green Mountain water-service

contract. Streamflow gage records therefore contain an adequate

representation of present use and administration of water in the Gore

Creek basin.

-2-
